When The SHTF.....

Yep the title is right.... When the Shit hits the fan you got it and I don't want to be behind it :) .

So my family is starting to get ready for winter, we are closing in the back porch with visqueen plastic and once closer to snow or really cold weather we will put the plastic around the windows. I have already started my stock pile, I have emergency stuff like flash lights, sleeping bags, tent, hiking bags, and propane its small but its a start. I'm learning a lot of things from looking at a few new blogs and I'm a daily reader of TheEconomicalCollapseBlog.com, I knew the government was screwed up but WOW!. My husband resigned from the prison, he is no longer a Correctional Officer after the riot on his pod and only one other officer responded, well that was pretty much it! and I would rather have my man at home with me and the family then having to bury him and have a million in the bank... So hubby now works on Post at Fort Carson Army Base. My husband now has the title of Building Manager for the school on base, No its not a huge career change and its not glamour and glitz there is no pressing of an officers uniform anymore but there also isn't any 19 hour days and wondering if my babe will come home tonight ya know what I mean. I have decided that money can't buy happiness, it only buys more consumer crap we don't need and that I keep having to donate to goodwill. My new focus is staying a float and looking to secure my children's future as well as ours. So we are now officially what you call Poor folk not that we were rich before but there is less money BUT! we were able to afford medical insurance so for that I'm thankful because that was weighing on my mind when we decided he should quit the Prison. We paid $187.00 a month through the prison for the entire family that was medical,vision,dental,life insurance and disability for everybody! NOW we pay $359.00 a month for medical and dental with life insurance and accidental death insurance because my hubby hunts. So thats what is going on in my part of the mountains.... nothing exciting just a little bit of humble living and I am a better person for it.

I lost my direction

When I moved to Colorado my dream was to buy some land and build something to live in cheaply or heck even pitch a tent. All I want is self reliance, but I have lost my direction I'm not sure what to do or where to go. After living here for a little over a year now it just doesn't seem like home. I'm still feeling lost now wondering if we made the right choice. I'm feeling a bit discouraged because every time we get up something pulls us back down. My car was in the shop last week it cost $994.00 to fix it but I was able to get them down to $843.00. It was my daughters 25th birthday on the 19th so we went to dinner at Joe's Crab Shack it wasn't what we thought it would be at $174.00 later :( maybe I'm just not happy right now I mean I guess I'm entitled to feel down in the dumps right?. We are paying all the bills as our kids jobs are not giving them any good hours and yet we are still reaping the disrespect from the kids... I don't get it! I can't throw them in the street because they will never make it and yet me and hubby have tried to reason,yell,scream and nothing works. In a perfect world I would win the power ball lottery tonight buy my land build a house and live happily ever after, but we all know this is no perfect world. I need to refocus myself and get a grip.

Well its Friday ya'll and it smells so sweet. I'm not sure what this weekend has in store for us but I'm hoping for atleast one lazy day. I really want to go for a drive outside of Pueblo, somebody told me you can buy huge sacks of potatoes and rice and beans plus I figure I can probably find some big bushels of fruit. So I have been reading a few blogs and have discovered there are a lot of depressed people out there. People are really not that different from one another, some just choose to voice how they feel. We all have the same concerns and fears about what is going on with our world today. This very day even though I have been following the news, I realized the Dow is down over 2000 points in the last 14 trading days WOW!. I don't have a 401k and I was thinking about starting one but now seeing what is happening not only in America but foreign countries I will not do it. Many people are just concerned about keeping their families fed, putting food on the table and who can blame them. The jobs are just not there right now and I know a lot of you will disagree with that statement but it is true! if there were so many jobs then don't you think people would choose to work for minimum wage rather then watch their families starve?. I have really been following the news a lot lately because I don't want to put my family in harms way so i have decided to stock up on everything I can!!! I'm not gonna be one who heard about it but brushed it off and then not be able to feed my family or keep some kind of shelter over their heads. So at this point we are hoping for the best but preparing for the worst because there are no guarantees in life. I'm gonna start doing some raw food and natural remedies, I want to start experiencing with a few things. Now don't get what I'm saying wrong I'm not an extremist I am still buying for the holidays and leading a normal life but I'm gonna be smart about everything now. I did find a place to get 20 pounds of potatoes for $6.40 instead of the $5.00 I was paying for 10 pounds :) Everybody have a blessed day and think smart.

Summer Days...

Well here we are in the middle of July. Warm days and cooler late afternoons with scattered showers, this is summer here in Colorado Springs. Today my daughter is in Canyon City white river rafting and zip lining on the trails. Tonight I'm making shredded chicken tacos yummy... I hope everybody is having a fantastic summer.

So I have been really searching for news on the internet lately. My interest is in whats happening in the world today... Wow its really crazy out there so many points of view about debt and inflation or should I say hyper-inflation... I had my own experience with inflation last week as I went to Sams club as always to buy groceries, I always buy Tri Tip steaks it is usually around $4.76 pound but it has gone up to $5.94 pound!!! in 4 days from the time I had bought it last!!! all the meat went up in price,needless to say I didn't buy it and when I asked the meat guy about the price because (I thought maybe I was crazy and didn't see that price right...) he said well of course its gone up, everything has taken a rise in price. I wanted to chop off my own hand as I picked up a 10 pound bag of potatoes for $4.98 a bag...yikes that was a 50 cent raise from days before, I know it doesn't seem like 50 cents is much but that's $2.19 up from the $2.79 a bag I was paying just a year ago all because of inflation!!. Pretty soon nobody will be able to afford to eat.... now that's crazy. I have been studying different sites and however out there they may seem to be, I know they are on point about a lot of stuff so I have to make myself become more self reliant for the sake of my family surviving. I don't believe the economy is gonna ever pick up much again like it was before 2008. Day by day we keep keeping on but its not easy and I know I have it better then some families so I'm thankful. Sometimes I wonder just how many Americans are suffering through this like us. I guess the new standard of living is: One paycheck away from being homeless welcome to the new America... I'm mad that Obama is trying to raise our debt ceiling like we will ever be able to recover as it is now and he wants to keep on adding to it. Pretty soon we will have the One World Order.. Scary!!

Wow the weather has been so beautiful here in Colorado Springs... gentle breeze a bit cloudy but warm. I'm only working 2 1/2 days a week for summer, all teachers are out of the building now and it is super quiet. I walked into one of my 2nd grade classrooms and it was so empty just knowing the teacher is over in Afganistan made me sick to my stomach.. he left school about 6 weeks ago and was deployed on Sunday. Everything in his class room was gone as if he was never there, he will be gone for a year I will be praying for his safe return. My husband went back to work yesterday after 2 weeks off and he had to work a double but atleast the inmates were mellow. I'm enjoying my days off I can now get my house back in order from all that full time i was working to help out. I'm hoping to get my basement painted and start my crafting again very soon I'm looking for a sewing machine to buy. I hope everybody is having a great week... God Bless You ALL!

Spending Money

So I have been looking at a few articles online, it seems I'm not the only wife with a spending husband. You all know I have been working for the last few months and the money has gone towards bills and a new deep freezer. I'm about to get my third check and I have been working full time even though I have a part time position to help out at work. I had planned a trip into Denver to take the family to The Bass Pro Shop and my daughter into Torrid to buy a few things. I asked my husband to work atleast 3 overtime shifts for the extra money for this trip I planned and of course he didn't do it he had excuse after excuse why he couldn't do it, but now he has made plans to buy a new Turkey gun and a blind.....<----- Expensive!. I don't know how to make the money stretch now because I have bills and need a newer washer n dryer not to mention I need some new bras... and those cost about 30.00 each at Lane Bryant. We have no savings for retirement we took what we had when we moved to Colorado a year ago. I'm pulling my hair out!! all my kids live at home and my 24 yr. old is only getting anout 12-18 hours a week if she is lucky but she has credit car bills. My 20 yr. old works at Pizza hut she brings home about $550-600 a month.. not much. Its hard for my kids to help out when they have no money either... So here I was thinking I would have my checks free for extra stuff and savings but thanks hubby now you don't want to work any over time :( What should I do?? my hubby is like a child sometimes if he doesn't get anything he gets depressed and angry... so I usually put back the things I need so he can get what he wants but its unfair.
I thought I was the only woman going through it but I guess there are a lot of childish men out there judging from what other women are saying. I hope none of these men mind living in a card board box when they are older because none of them want to save for retirement.

So I have been told that i am a negative person because i talk to much about whats going on in the real world... I don't feel negative i feel informative :) So i actually had a friend drop me from facebook because of it and that kinda hurt my feelings until I stood back and realized that this is a person who drinks everyday and has her head in the sand. So onto a brighter note.. hehe, it is a beautiful day here in Colorado Springs but I do miss Arizona a bit. I miss the palm trees and the sun but not the heat so much however I miss that everything is new all the stores and shopping hubs, and of course Trader joes, Paradise Bakery and some others. I am hoping for a bigger n brighter day ahead. God Bless all my followers I pray The Lord will keep you always.

Well after having no real access to a computer for a few days it feels good to be online. I have decided to do what I can for stocking up but I'm gonna try to mellow out on the world news if you now what I mean.. ( my last few post) I believe The Lord will take care of us. I was really depressing my kids talking about all that stuff I mean we are aware but no more deep conversations so I can keep my family mentally safe. I still like my job so I guess thats a good thing...lol

This is so sad to watch, unreal and unexpected. I'm praying for all of the people who are living this tradgedy. Now we have the president telling us of our down fall to all this... our economy!!
So I have been posting about some videos that I have been watching and some stuff i'm reading about,people stocking up on food,water,supplys just incase of a tradgedy happening like the one in Japan. Now I know I'm not extreme and I know I will be using a lot of my paychecks to buy supplies and canned food and other things for my family just incase I prefer to be safe then sorry. Please keep Japan in ur prayers....

Economy Crash 2011

Wow the more I do some research the more interesting it becomes.... I guess it is possible for our country to fall easier then i could ever imagine. I read my bible and I look at ther book of Revelation and compare to America and other countries and we are definitly living the last days in my opininon. I find it odd and yet awesome that so many people are moving on to their own land and so many beautiful mommys are now staying home with their kids and making meals from scratch, I always felt left out because i stayed home with the kids... but now these women are actually perparing their families for what could lay ahead and don't even realize it. I am gonna start learning to can meat and also want to raise meat chicken and get one of those nifty electric pluckers... I want to learn more about solar power, find my land and get self sufficiant just incase anything does happen atleast I will have a little comfort of knowing we can grow our food raise our meat process it and have solar to run what we need. Maybe I'm being extreme but what if what alot of different people are saying is true?? atleast my family will be prepared right?.

Well on a different note.... i love the new job, yes I clean but its only part time and the 4 hours goes by really fast. I am gonna really think hard about what is needed and not just wanted with my checks...

So i was reading an article on the web about 2011 economy crashing. Do you know that our US dollar has dropped 11% in the last 7 months of 2010?. I went on you-tube and was watching some videos that people have posted about food storage, some people have made their basements into food storage as well as plenty of emergency supplies. I'm wondering if these people arre extreme or just wise?. I guess I will start stocking up on some things, but right now I'm just trying to mainly focus on starting a garden. Are any of you doing the same? if so what are you stocking up on?

New Job

I just am so Blessed, the Lord has heard my prayers and I finally got a part time job. I went on Friday to get my Military clearance because I am now employed at the elementary school on the Army base. I am only a part time custodian but I make 13.21 hour and I get all the benefits. I work 20 hours a week and I clean all the time at home so why not get paid to do it??... So now I need to decide what I will use the money for other than to catch up bills because I need a newer washer and dryer as well as a new refrigerator because mine freezes the produce sometimes. Thank goodness my utilitys will never have to get shut off again. :)

Other new things: we are deciding what to plant this year because produce and fruit are so expensive we are gonna try a large garden and then canning... I can't wait.

So today I got up and cooked breakfast at 5:30 am made coffee and fresh juice for my husband and son .My husband left for work and I got my son off to school. I went back to bed for awhile only to wake up to my daughter yelling for me and telling me we have no water!! not what I wanted to wake up to. I called the water company and sure enough they turned my water off for nonpayment. I am not a proud person I can be very humble so I will tell you I had no money to pay my water bill, so we counted and rolled change and finally came up with 88.00 to pay so we can get our water turned back on. I had to make a decision do I pay the water or buy food??? so I bought food :) . We have been a bit strapped now that there is a light at the end of the tunnel with my husbands prison job we are playing catch up... we had $29,000 in june but the move to Colorado broke us with house rental, deposits,uhal truck plus trailer and then having to make another trip back to Az. to get the rest of our stuff not to mention we had to buy a truck and fix our car and buy my mom a good used car but she is paying us back 200.00 a month. Money goes fast when you have no job and you move from one state to another. I went over every reciept we had and we really didn't waste that much money. So like I said I'm humble!!!
Times are so hard right now, if you work in retail hours are down my daughter and mom are in retail. I'm not looking forward to the prices on gas and food rising but they are and just went up again yesterday, what are the paycheck to paycheck familys suppose to do? really if you think about it alot of us are one paycheck away from being homeless. I know this blog was alittle depressing I'm sorry my next one will be happy... :) how is everybodys day going?

So Many Things...

You know I wanted to blog, but so many things are going around in my head that I am not sure what to say. The Arizona shooting has been on my mind since yesterday it doens't make any kind of sense to me I just keep going back to that 9 yr. old little girls face. I am also thinking about how I will get my family through another tough year since that has been predicted. Gas is up here in Colorado Springs it went from 2.69 a gallon to 2.85 and is sure to rise even more. My husband is getting alittle bit of over time at his job, so I'm gonna try to pay off some behind bills and help my daughter pay off her credit cards.

I'm hoping this year will bring some change in my family as far as being more responsible I want my children to be more thankful for what they have. My 19 yr. old is working for a contract companie for verizon so she is the customer service rep you would talk to when calling in about your bill or plan, she is making $ 11.00 hr. and she gets about 5-8 hours of overtime a week so thats good money for a 19 yr. old who lives at home with no bills, she already wants to quit because it is stressing her out she doesnt like talking on the phone... give me a break!!!. She would rather go back to pizza hut for about $ 400 a month does it make any sense to you?. I'm not sure what changes I will be making this year but we have to save money, I really want a peice of land.

Well today is crazy, I have 2 young adult children 24, 19 why is it that I still have to yell to get them to help out around the house??. I'm still doing their laundry and cooking their meals, they live at home for free you would atleast think they would help out around the house right? WRONG!! I'm starting to feel angry at them and then there is attitude!!! I thought we got passed all that crap after the early teen years but it turns out I was wrong. Whats a mom to do?? you love them to death one moment until they open their mouths and then you want to kill them the next... not actually kill them but you know what I mean. I just pray for peace because its holiday season and I want joy in my CLEAN!! home. do any of you have teens or young adult kids?? what should I do? and no I can't kick them out family has to stick together in these tough economic times, besides my 19 yr. old only gets about 13 hours a week at pizza hut minimum wage and my 24 yr. old. lost alot of her hours do to these times she is in retail so neither one could make it even if they got an apartment together.

Well I finished my flooring in the house the den now has tile...yippy! so because we are running on a tight budget right now I decorated with what I had and some stuff from thrift shops..photos to come soon!. I'm getting ready for Halloween I have done my decorating now to buy candy and go to Boo at the Zoo. I have been really busy lately some days are more productive then others. I really want to learn to budget better and make my money work for me not me or should I say hubby work for the money. What do all you stay at home moms do to earn extra $$$ for the family??. Well my daughter is still inlove so far so good for her I guess. My mom had a heart attack a couple weeks ago and my son is under doctors care for his blood pressure and he went to the allergy doctor for testing turns out he is allergic to every tree,pollen,weed in Colorado and hes only 14. I will keep you all posted and post some photos within the next couple of days... ya know I love ya all you are a great crowd of followers xoxoxo

Its that time of year again... Fall is bring in the cool crisp air the leaves on my trees are turning and starting to fall off. Everyday there is a gentle whispering wind oh boy I'm loving it so much. I have begun to decorate my home with all my Fall goodies and my wonderful smelling candles are on the burners my home is smelling so delicious with the warm pumpkin spice and vanilla. This time of year brings me such joy because its a time to reflect on being thankful and love and joy, the spirit of giving to one another. I am gonna take some pictures of my home as soon as my Den is finished, we are actually in the middle of changing our flooring out from carpet to wood or tile flooring we havent decided yet but I did take the carpet off one set of our stairs going up to some bedrooms and found a pretty wood floor under that carpet. Things seem to be good right now for us at the Poorman residence. God Bless you all my friends.

Good-Byes Are Never Easy...

So we finally made it to Colorado... what a relief. We went through alot before leaving with my husbands car accident, then he was hospitalize in April for 3 days and then the death of our beloved 1 year old Gunner he was a great dog but he got a peice of rawhide bone stuck in his intestant, it killed him with in a day and a half... So many things went wrong we didn't have enough room on the 26ft uhal to take everything so we made the trip and then went back to Arizona to get more stuff a day later with our truck and trailer when we got there somebody had robbed our garage and took alot of stuff I wanted... :( like I said it has been a journey.
My husband is just now going back to work after having 2 1/2 months off. My emotions have been running high and then low I feel like maybe I'm having some depression... I have been so use to drama on a daily basis that being in Colorado with no drama is a shock to my system, I mean how do you ajust from a high strung life to normalcy?. I'm happy to be home in Colorado yet at the same time I'm sad and I don't understand why? I left some friends, my husband left a great job, my kids left school and jobs and their friends,,, its hard to say good bye. I'm hoping for a bright future for my children and me and hubby of course, we will see what tomorrow brings.

Well I feel like I'm going crazy... the good news is we rented a house and my husband has a job interview with a school district on the 20th of this month. We are heading to Colorado on Sunday the 18th I'm excited I believe my husband has the job because they said at my husbands conveinence and they know we have to travel from Az. to Colo. so say a prayer for us please.
I have been yard saling and I have been able to get rid of alot of stuff, still have alot though.

Scariest decision of our lives Help!!

I'm just wonering how many people will offer their advice. We are leaving with no jobs in Colorado, my husband gave his notice at work he is leaving a 14.28 hr. job here in Az. , our daughter is leaving a full time job as a supervisor of 3 departments at Babies R Us, my mom is leaving her job as a Asst. Manager of Famous Footwear and none of us have jobs in Colorado.
My daughter is probly transfering we hope if there is a position open in Colo. and the same for my mom. I'm getting very scared because of the unknown and I wonder if you all think we are making the right choice? We can hardly make it here in AZ. our house went back to the bank and they auction it off May 19th, We have to have a house because we can't fit in an apt. atleast in Colo. we can grow a garden, you can't grow anything in AZ. We are getting a refund on our Az. retirement that should give us about $27,000 plus what we can save. Please give me your advice am I just scared of change and will this move benefit my family?

I would first like to start by wishing each one of you a Very Happy Easter. I hope that the real reason is celebrated the fact that Christ Jesus died on the cross for each one of us so that we could have salvation and live eternity with him and our heavenly father. Remeber to love one another even when people don't seem lovable because I know there are so many day's I am not feeling lovable or acting in away that would make people want to love me, but nobody is perfect we are all sinners BUT... we are saved because of Jesus he loved us in our sin and he died for us so that we couold live with him forever, now thats real love.

Now an update on our life, well we are still packing and trying to sell what we do not need or want anymore. The move is getting closer May 29th we pull out of Arizona at 4 am we will be on our way to Colorado. I'm feeling alittle worried because my huband hasn't got a job there yet and his last day of work here in AZ. is April 16 th our last check is April 30 th then we can put in a request to refund all of our retirement from AZ. . Still trying to find a house thats big enough and not to much money. We keep praying because we are stepping out in faith that the Lord will provide for us. I'm doing well in the yardsaling first day was close to $700 and the second day was about $600 the 3rd day was only $295 but we did manage to sell that truck that was hit in the cow/truck accident we sold it for $450 . Please pray for my family we could really use the extra prayer. I love you all God Bless

The Budget Experience

Saturday we started out in a 24ft Budget truck on our way from AZ. to Colo.. We thought man this truck is hard to keep on the road between 3 drivers we almost lost it 2 times in Holbrook.

We decided to stop in New Mexico to use the bathrooms at a rest stop, after parking and getting out to strech we found that the transport carrying the Altima had a bad tire infact the tire was bald and a chunk of tred was missing!!!. After calling 911 to see if they could help us figure out exactly where we were so roadside asst. could come and save us...lol we waited 3 hours for them to get there. My family was suppose to take the keys to the house they rented on Sat. night but with a 3 hour delay we ended up with 6 people in a hotel room with only 2 beds...fun!!! NOT!!.

Yes me and my broken husband who had just hit a cow a week and a half earlier with our truck which was totalled had to sleep on the floor,YES I said floor, it sucked!. So we got into Colorado Springs Sunday morning only to find the house that was rented was grossly dirty I mean it was a dump!! so we had to call the owner and she sent out a cleanng lady and a crew to finish laying the tile in the up stairs bathroom. Come Monday, we went out and looked around I mean after all we are moving there at the end of May. My cousin was suppose to rent a car to get us back to Az. in because we only went to help drive and unload the truck, but she was unable to rent a car because of her credit score and no major credit card, so we were screwed!! my husband was missing 2 days of work and my kids school for this little trip and now we can't even get home?!!.

After feeling so much anger I decided not to take it out on my family so I did the next best thing and called Budget truck rentals about the truck that had no working winsheld wipers and was out of alinement and had a crapy tire that had to be replaced if the tire would have blown my family could have been killed, unfortunately they though our possible death was only worth $38.00 I didn't realize I was so cheap. So after all the trauma I went through tuesday arrived and my aunt ended up giving us her truck to get home in and she will have to fly out later to pick it up and drive back to Colo. That was a long story huh.. but all true!! So needless to say I'm exhausted and so is my husband and daughter, we made it home late last night and will need a few days to catch up. I promise my life isn't always this crazy but we do have times we go thru once and awhile, I really want to blog about being frugal and good meals and life in this economy, but I just had to share the last couple of weeks as to what has been going on. I will update on the budget thing when I find out what is gonna happen because my cousin is writing the president of Budget I don't blame her the truck was $1,400. to rent plus gas and an unexpected hotel stay.

My husband was on his way to work last tuesday morning at about 5:00 am. I was still asleep because I don't get up until about 6:30 am, however I was awakened with the ring of my cell phone at about 5:15 am All I heard was I have been in an accident, I said where and my hubby said on Ironwood I hit a cow I said are you ok and he said yeah but my truck I said I'll be right there. When he called he was in distress and in shock he didn't sound like himself. When I got on the scene my husband was walking around I saw the truck and it was totalled out, the cow was dead and the news was above us live. I did take my hubby to the hospital he was hurt his back,neck and shoulders, however he is a walking miracle because he was driving without a seat belt and doing 65mph no time to stop, the cow had gotten on the highway and ran across infront of my hubby and he had no time to react the cow was about 600 pounds. He was driving the truck my late grandfather gave him it was a mint 1986 Ford F150 with only about 50,000 original miles on it super sweet but not anymore the reason my husband survived is because this truck was steel not like the new trucks and it sat up alittle higher do to 4 wheel drive. I'm not sure why this happened to him, the weird thing is that he left for work an hour later then usual he normally leaves at 4:00 am but he decided to sleep an extra hour that day and like my husband said he is glad it happened to him with our truck because if it had happened to somebody in a car or a new truck they would be dead they never could have survived it. The doctors were in awe at the fact my husband walked away from this. We know that the Lord was with my husband and he protected him you see what the enemy meant for bad the Lord turned around to good my husband is alive and well able to lead people to Jesus Christ and we know God is in control and will give my husband another truck. I am posting some pics.

Well I have been so busy lately, I'm packing up my house and getting ready for the big move to Colorado Springs Colorado. We are leaving June 1st. This move will be bitter sweet for my family because I'm giving the house that my grandparents have back to the bank we just can't sell it with the economy. This was the last house they bought before they died and its the home that I took care of them in, it has many memories and it breaks my heart to say goodbye I just have no choice. So there will be no inheritance at least money wise but we have received so much.
I wont cry a river when I leave but more like an ocean and so will my kids may God just keep his hand on us.
I'm gonna be posting my recipe for green pork chili and beans with semi homemade tortillas.

Shredded chicken tacos

My family LOVES... tacos.
I started with 6 peices of boneless skineless chicken breast and I cooked them partly in the presure cooker on med. for about 7 minutes I took them out and added them to a skillet that I had diced onions and cubed green bell peppers in. I shredded the meat and cook through with the peppers and onions.

Then I added a packet of Fajita mix any brand will work.

I made my taco shells from white corn tortilias I fried them in conola oil. I put the meat,onoins,peppers in and added shredded cheese, tomatoes,taco sauce and sour cream.

Family of five

Corn Tortilias:$ 1.49 for 32 on sale

Chicken:$ 4.91 on sale

Bell pepper:$ 1.78 for 2

onoin:.33 cents

Shredded cheese:$ 1.99 8oz on sale store brand

Sour cream:$ 1.18 16oz on sale store brand

Taco sauce:$ 2.49 on sale

Total:14.17

Now I did have enough corn tortilias and taco sauce left for about 1 more meal so cut the cost of those in half and I spent for five people total:$12.17

My family consist of 3 adults and 2 teenagers.

Cold Night,, Hot Soup...

This is the finished product, I realized I uploaded my pictures in the wrong order so we are going from finish to start instead of start to finish...

I cooked it on med for about 12-15 minutes then added 2 cups of frozen corn and 2 cups peas also frozen, however I did heat them up before adding and then I let it heat through the soup.

I browned beef stew meat in a skillet before adding it to the presure cooker.

I added a cup of natural crushed tomatoes from Sprouts.

This is cut up cabbage and big peices of carrot and potatoe, I also added about 3 cups water and 2 beef bullion cubes.

This whole meal for a family of 5 plus leftovers was:

meat: $3.41- 1.5 pds.

cabbage:.89 cents

carrots:$1.00 -1lb.

potatoes:.50 cents- 2 lb.

peas:.97 cents - 16 oz.

corn:.97 cents - 16 oz.

canned tomatoes:$1.00 on sale

Total=$8.74

Life is precious

My best friend Shirley has a neice named Tiffany well last night (sunday) Tiff texted her best friend Nicole to tell her to meet up at school this morning and Nicole text Tiff back saying : my brother is dead and I killed him!! I wont be at school tomorrow. What a shock to find out that on Saturday night Nicole 16 drove her brother 17 to the mall and when she was pulling away he jumped in front of the car playing around she hit the brakes, this went on several times he was goofing around , well the last time he did it she accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal and she ran him over he was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead later.......This family needs your prayers at this time they will never be the same and young Nicole will never know a truely fulfilled happy life. When were young, we never think of death or even think we can die, we are carefree and happy go lucky we just never believe it can happen to us and the next day is never promissed, please if you have teenage drivers or just teenagers who don't drive yet talk to them about horseplay and what is dangerous.
This 17 yr. old boy's life was taken way to early he would have graduated this year. My heart goes out to Nicoles family and I pray the Lord holds them tight through this time. Enjoy everyday as if it is your last, love, laugh and gives thanks to God.

Back to normal

Well tomorrow things will be getting back to normal, hubby at work and kids at school after 2 weeks off for all of them. I did enjoy my hubby being off for 2 weeks but I'm ready for my alone time to read,pray and craft or blog..hehehe. I'm excited for this year I have already pulled my valentine decorations and crafts out. I have been adding blogs I enjoy reading to my list and boy,, am I learning a new thing or two.

Another Year Gone

Well it's another year gone by and some of it was great and some not so great. Alot of people lost there jobs and homes, I thank God my husband's job is secure. I have seen some very sad things and I'm hoping for a better year this 2010, not for my family so much but for some of the people I'v seen suffering. The best advice I can give it the real truth just stand on the Rock!!, he will see you through. Now I have thought of ways to really make this blog stand out so it will be a blessing and a source of help to those in need of advice, money managing tips, homemaking, cooking and more. This year is holding quite an adventure for my family as we are getting ready to make a big move from sunny Arizona after 16 years of living here back to cold Colorado in June. My daughter is graduating high school at the end of May and starting college in Colo. at DU. My son is finishing junior high and starting high school in Colo., my oldest is getting ready for higher up management at Babies R Us where she is now a department manager of 3 different departments. As for myself I'm changing alot trying to find myself again, thinking of sarting my business back up when we get to Colorado. I'm going through a birthing process something big is brewing inside of me and I can't quite put my finger on it I'm not sure what it will be but I feel it in my gut like butterflies and pressure some great thing the Lord is getting ready to do. I'm making changes I'm not sure what will lay instore for us but I hope its great. Moving is a great challenge when your leaving with as little as possible and no job where your going, but we have our savings, we just need a change of pace and a better quality of living healthier and happiness never hurt either.
